We were delighted to help celebrate Grant Cowan's 90th birthday.

Our thanks to those who donated time and talents to make the party a success:

Trish Adams, Lesley Ballantyne, Cameron Ballantyne-Smith (photoshop), Reilly Ballantyne-Smith (graphic design),  Jim Betts, Valerie Boyle, Mark Candler, Mark Cassius, Susan Cuthbert,  Janelle Hutchinson, Pam Hyatt, Arlene Meadows, Charlotte Moore, Nick Rice, and to PAL Toronto for donating the use of the Green Room for the event.

Special thanks to Grant himself, a Canadian Theatre Icon,  for sharing his delightful stories!!

We had a lovely interview with Grant for our Socially Distant but Staying Connected project.  Click HERE to watch the recording with lots of great pictures (41 minutes).

Aside from being everyone’s favourite Snoopy, Grant was also my favourite Nick Bottom. And the only person in the Canadian Theatre who can remember all the verses to my Tennis song.

Everything I know about being a theatre professional I learned from Grant Cowan. Which may account for why I lost my Equity card.

Remind me, Grant, was it one shot of whiskey before a show, or one bottle?

I love you Grant Cowan, and I hope to keep hearing you sing Tennis for another 90 years!
Jim Betts

There once was a whirlwind named Cowan
Whose life was all actin’ and bowin’.
I’ve long been a groupie
For him and his Snoopy
Which accounts for the crazed state I’m now in.

There’s a stud of an actor named Grant
Whose artistry rivals Rembrandt
He’ll have you believin’
He’s so good he’d even
Get laughs from Gregorian Chant.

Grant Cowan, the world’s greatest Snoopy
Who may be the slightest bit loopy
If he sings you applaud it
‘Cause Grant you still got it
And even now turning 9 zero
Grant Cowan you still are my hero.
